HELP CHILDREN'S DREAMS COME TRUE TODAY

by Hillsides

Hillsides Annual Gala is the largest fundraiser of the year for our charity, raising more than $450,000 to help support the work we do.

This year’s gala theme is La Nuit des Rêves. Translated from French, it means “The Night of Dreams.” This is our night, all of ours, to help turn children’s visions of safety and happiness into reality. Here are examples of their wishes:

“I wish I could get rid of my acne,” said a 16-year-old boy, who was severely depressed and had previous suicide attempts.

“I wish I could go home with my mom. I want to get out of foster care,” said 15-year-old girl born with a cleft lip and palate, who has been placed out of home for many years.

A seven-year-old boy, whose both parents live with mental illness and neglected him, wishes “for toy cars.”

“I wish someone could love me,” said a 16-year-old girl, who has had six previous hospitalizations in the year before coming to Hillsides.

“I wish I had some new clothes,” said eight-year-old girl, who is a survivor of extensive abuse, and has been in multiple placements before coming to Hillsides.

“I wish I had a home,” said a 10-year-old girl, whose mother is incarcerated and father is abusive.

This 18-year-old girl with a seizure disorder said she wishes "I could go to college and have a career.”

At Hillsides we nurture these dreams.  We strive to banish the nightmares of the past and help children heal and rediscover joy.  We are dedicated to creating a better life for every child. Help us make their dreams come true.
